Fire Destroys Masters & Tapes!

• Office fires occur more frequently than you might imagine, and they don't always start by themselves.  It's well known, for example, that 25% of all fires are started by arson... 

• An office fire's scorching and relentless flames can quickly cast sustained high temperatures of 1800° Fahrenheit upon your valuable video tape masters, production footage, and CD and DVD masters...  

• Recordings on videotape cassettes and optical discs such as CD-R and DVD-R begin to degrade and are quickly destroyed by sustained temperatures as low as 150° F...  

• Safes and safe deposit boxes in general offer little to no protection against the sustained heat of a fire.  And so-called "fire safes" are designed solely for the protection of paper documents... 

• 'Fire safes', also referred to as "fireproof safes," maintain internal temperatures at 350° F during a typical office fire... but that's 200° beyond the destruction point of valuable videotape masters, production footage, and CD and DVD masters!

• The main feature of any fireproof safe is a gel core that is sandwiched within in its walls.  During a fire, this gel core releases moisture into the safe compartment to prevent incineration of paper...  

• Because video tape is highly susceptible to degradation and destruction by humidity, the briefest of fires could destroy video tapes stored within a 'fire safe' by causing the safe's gel core to 'flood' the safe compartment with moisture!
